Swps University, Warsaw

SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities or simply SWPS University is a private non-profit university in Poland established in 1996 by three psychology professors, Andrzej Eliasz, Zbigniew Pietrasiński and Janusz Reykowski.

SWPS University is one of the largest private universities in Poland with a community of over 14,000 students at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, including over 1,200 international students from more than 60 countries. The university has five campuses, located in major Polish cities, including Warsaw, Wrocław, Sopot, Poznań, and Katowice. 

The institution was formerly known as the Warsaw School of Social Psychology (Szkoła Wyższa Psychologii Społecznej, SWPS). It was granted university status under Polish law in 2015.

SWPS University offers 15 undergraduate and graduate programs taught entirely in English and over 30 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral study programs, with over 70 specializations, in Polish. The main study areas are Psychology, Law, Languages, Literature and Culture Studies, Media and Communication, Management, and Design. The University has been ranked by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as the leading higher education institution offering Social Sciences program in Poland.

Seven faculties of SWPS University have the authority to grant doctoral degrees in the following disciplines: cultural studies, literature studies, law, and sociology (in Warsaw) as well as psychology (in Warsaw, Wrocław, and Sopot). Collegium da Vinci, Poznan

The fields of study are interesting and innovative, created in cooperation with employers and on the basis of trends in the global economy and the direction of changes in the dynamic labor market. Our graduates find a job in line with their interests and education.

June 10, 1996 the Minister of Education granted permission for the establishment of the Higher School of Humanities and Journalism in Poznan, where the initiator and founder is Piotr Voelkel. WSNHiD was included in the list of private universities at number 90. In the same year, the first students began their training at the direction of political science and social sciences. Two years later, WSNHiD added a new direction – international relations. In 2000, running are further directions – sociology and cultural studies, and in the following year – computer science. In 2006, the university obtains authorization to education in educational theory.

In July 2004 an agreement was concluded with the Institute of the Western Institute joint venture research and teaching, while in February 2008 WSNHiD has established close cooperation with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw. In June 2014 WSNHiD and Western Institute in Poznań signed an agreement to establish a Center for Scientific under the name Greater Scientific and Research Centre.

In 2014, The School of Humanities has changed its name to the Collegium Da Vinci.

Agh University of Science and Technology, Warsaw

The AGH University of Science and Technology (the AGH UST) is a modern university that actively participates in fostering a knowledge-based society and creating innovative technologies. AGH university has a well-established position in the country and is recognized abroad. Experienced staff, advanced laboratories, a unique campus, and, above all, the bonds that connect the AGH UST community are our greatest assets.

The university includes 22 fields of study taught entirely in English. The AGH UST Doctoral School is a perfect place for those who want to continue their education, and the assortment of more than 100 professional courses will definitely improve career opportunities and personal development.

The research activities span the fields of technical sciences, natural sciences, Earth sciences and social sciences, with an emphasis on current priorities of the economy and business, in such areas as digitisation, energy transformation and zero emission economy, climate change, circular economy, and Industry 4.0. Among the many prospective research fields at the AGH UST, research related to space engineering is being developed intensively.

Medical University of Silesia, Katowice

The Medical University of Silesia in Katowice (SUM in Katowice) is a university established in 1948, modern, caring for the highest quality of education and constantly adapting its educational offer to the needs of the labor market. The university has five faculties located in Katowice Ligota, Zabrze, Bytom and Sosnowiec.

Within five faculties in the form of full-time and part-time 1st and 2nd degree studies and uniform master’s studies, SUM educates doctors, dentists, pharmacists, medical analysts, medical biotechnologists, as well as specialists in the field of public health, emergency medicine, dietetics, nursing, obstetrics, physiotherapy, cosmetology, neurobiology, electroradiology, health risk management and medical coaching.

Studies in English were established in the following fields: medicine and dentistry, pharmacy and medical biotechnology, physiotherapy, nursing, obstetrics, public health and dietetics. The Medical University of Silesia in Katowice educates doctoral students and offers education at postgraduate and MBA studies, as well as training and specialization courses. SUM obtained 3 authorizations to confer the degree of doctor and 3 authorizations to confer the degree of habilitated doctor in the field of: medical sciences and health sciences, in the following disciplines:

  • pharmaceutical sciences,
  • medical science, 
  • health sciences.

SUM cooperates with over 80 foreign universities, including Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Italy and Sweden. This cooperation concerns, inter alia, exchange of students, exchange of information in the field of teaching programs as well as exchange and training of teaching staff. The university has established contacts and cooperation with numerous and leading national and foreign centers, with which it conducts joint research and exchange of experiences.

The high level of classes at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice is guaranteed by over 1,300 academic teachers, including approximately independent research and teaching staff. The knowledge and qualifications of SUM employees are appreciated both in Poland and in the world, many of them receive honorary doctorates honoris causa, sit in the authorities of European and Polish scientific societies.

The didactic and scientific base of the University consists of over 260 departments, clinics, departments and departments located mainly in the cities that are the seats of the faculties, i.e. in Zabrze, Katowice, Sosnowiec and Bytom. Moreover, the University has 5 independent public clinical hospitals in Zabrze and Katowice.

The flagship investment of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice are Medical Simulation Centers located in three locations. Medical Simulation Centers, created thanks to financial support from the European Union.

Nicalaus Copernicus University, Torn

The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (NCU) was founded in 1945. It is one of the largest universities in Poland, currently comprising 16 faculties (including 3 medical faculties at Collegium Medicum UMK in Bydgoszcz). It provides graduate and postgraduate courses for 18 331 students, offering education in over 100 fields of study and 55 postgraduate courses. The university employs 4453 staff on both Toruń and Bydgoszcz campuses, over half of whom are academic teachers. NCU alumni now number around 200 000.

NCU has state-of-the-art research infrastructure including the National Laboratory of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (FAMO), the Center for Quantum Optics and the Interdisciplinary Center for Modern Technologies to name but a few, as well as modern teaching facilities comprising, among others, Collegium Humanisticum and the brand new University Sports Centre. The Centre for Astronomy in Piwnice near Toruń houses a unique 32-meter radio telescope. Spitsbergen (in the Arctic Sea) is home to NCU Polar Station. The university has also organized the Polish Historical Mission at the University of Würzburg.

NCU is one of 10 Polish universities that has obtained the status of a research university. The objective of the “Excellence Initiative ¬ Research University” programme is to select and support the best Polish universities, which will be able to successfully compete with foreign institutions in the coming years.

The university participates in student and staff exchange programs at both international (the Erasmus+ program, YUFE) and national (the MOST program) levels. Exchanging programs allow NCU community to take part in initiatives organised in 10 European countries both in physical and virtual form at the same time inviting foreigners to get more acquainted with NCU.

The University Library holds an imposing collection of nearly 3 million printed volumes, periodicals and special collection items. NCU campus hosts the Academic Centre for Arts and Culture ‘Od Nowa’, one of the oldest students’ clubs in Poland.

This has contributed to the Nicolaus Copernicus University’s position as one of the five best universities in Poland and it is also the reason why QS World University Ranking has placed NCU in the top 4% of universities in the world.
