About University 

 

The EKA University of Applied Sciences was founded on July 23, 1998, and become one of the top-ranked educational establishments in Latvia. The EKA offers its students a modern study environment – real and virtual lecture rooms, the modern library with a vast amount of resources of information, a large variety of books and periodicals, audio materials, video materials, electronic data basis, and informative Internet resources in Latvian, English, German and other languages.

University become the place for studying and living for more than 1100 students in 2021-2022. In 2019 EKA achieved ranking top positions in the U-Multirank rating among Latvian private higher education institutions and develop higher education in European Union to a better level. In a study conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science in 2020, graduates of EKA Bachelor′s programs in 2017 ranked first among Latvian private higher education institutions and third place among all Latvian higher education institutions.

International Cooperation

 

The EKA has a vast amount of signed cooperation agreements with various educational establishments and organizations. The EKA is a member of the Baltic University Programme that unites 160 universities in 14 countries of the Baltic Sea region. It gives students and university staff opportunities to take part in exchange programs with Baltic Universities, and live and study in top-ranked Universities and Academies in Baltic Countries.

The EKA has signed ERASMUS cooperation agreements with higher educational institutions in France, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Germany, and Hungary. Every year the list of the EKA University of Applied Sciences partners is expanded with new partners. Every year students and lecturers participate in exchange programs. 

In 2013, the University hosted the first Fulbright program scholar. The program is financed by the US State Department. EKA is a member of several Latvian and international associations as the Higher Education Export Association of Latvia, the Latvian Information and Communications Technology Association​, the Latvian Association of Private Universities, the Latvian Employers Confederation, and the Baltic Management Development Association.
