Due to many years of development passionate work of scientists, Ukraine has built a great national education system. It can be proved by a fact that the country has joined European and the world educational space by implementing Bologna process in most universities.

As of today, thanks to the educational possibilities of Ukraine, it is now one of ten leading countries in the field of international education, which is indicated by a high level of interest of receiving higher education in Ukraine by international students.

Ukrainian higher education institutions provide courses in Ukrainian, Russian or English. International students have the opportunity to study in more than 240 universities and specialize in different scientific fields. Every year higher educational institutions welcome students from more than 150 countries. All universities can provide teaching for all types of training programs according to the Law of Ukraine “About Higher Education”. 




  • Universities have the 4th accreditation level. They may be multi-disciplinary institutions (follow a classical university model) or ‘branch’ institutions (focus on some particular professional field as technical, medical, agricultural, pedagogical, economics, law etc.). They act as leading research and methodological centres in both fundamental and applied research.
  • Academies have the 4th accreditation level. They are specializing in a specific area of knowledge in which they also act as leading research and methodological centres in both fundamental and applied research.
  • Institutes have the 3rd accreditation level. They are specializing in a specific area of knowledge in which they also conduct research and methodological research in both fundamental and applied fields. They may be an independent or sub-unit of a university or academy.
  • Conservatoires have the 3rd accreditation level. They specialize in culture and arts, specifically music. They also conduct research and act as leading centres in areas of their activity.
  • Colleges have the 2nd accreditation level. They provide training leading to the acquisition of specific HE qualifications. They may also constitute sub-units within HEIs with the 3rd and 4th levels of accreditation − technical and vocational schools.
  • Technical schools have the 1st level of accreditation. They provide education and training in several adjacent areas. They may also constitute sub-units within HEIs with 3rd and 4th levels of accreditation.




  • Bachelor. The preparation for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree is carried out on the basis of complete general secondary education. Period of studies is 4 years. Graduates who have successfully passed state exams obtain a Bachelor’s degree, which gives them right to work within their specialty and be admitted for obtaining a Master’s degree.
  • Master. Obtaining the Master’s degree is possible on the basis of Bachelor’s degree. The period of the course is 1-2 years. The graduates pass the state certification, which includes a public presentation of the graduate work. Those who successfully pass the state certification obtain Master’s degree, which gives them the right to pursue their profession and apply for Postgraduate Education.
  • PhD. A Doctor of Philosophy (or PhD) is a scientific degree received upon completing the postgraduate course. A person who has Master’s Qualification can be admitted to the postgraduate department of the university. Obtaining the degree involves a public defence of a thesis.

Obtaining these educational and scientific degrees of higher education involves gaining theoretical knowledge, skills and other competencies sufficient for generation of new ideas and solving complex tasks in professional or research activity.

Ukraine is a European country that has achieved 99,8% of literacy rate, which indicates that it dedicates enough time to educational processes and, therefore, is one of the best places for studying in the world. Ukrainian universities are certainly a good choice for students who are interested in getting higher education and taking up a respectable and well-paid position in the future.




While studying medicine in Ukraine, students will benefit from high standards of professionalism of universities’ teaching staff, all for low tuition fees and living costs. In most of Ukrainian medical universities such sciences as Medicine (MBBS/MD), Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy and others are taught. Some of universities’ lecturers and practitioners have more than 20 years of experience in teaching medicine in English.

Thousands of international students from more than 110 different countries get higher education in Ukraine nowadays, and a good part thereof is attracted to medical studies. Most of them come from India, Nigeria, China, Turkey, Uganda, Russia, Malaysia and Central European countries. Ukrainian medical institutions work closely with universities of Germany, France, Italy, Poland, United Kingdom, USA and Austria; this allows students to participate in international conferences, exchange programs and various scientific projects.




Most popular medical courses among international students in Ukraine are

  • Medicine: duration of the medical course is 6 years, the conferred degree is Doctor of Medicine (MD or MBBS);
  • Dental: duration of the dental course is 5 years, the conferred degree is Bachelor of Dentistry (BDent);
  • Pediatrics: duration of the course is 6 years, the conferred degree is Doctor of Medicine;
  • Nursing: duration of the course is 4 years, the conferred degree is Bachelor of Nursing (BN);
  • Dental orthopedics: duration of the course is 2 years, the conferred degree is Bachelor of Dental Orthopedics;
  • Postgraduate studies: duration of study is 2-3 years.




  • Since Ukraine is a member of of the Bologna Process, a degree obtained there is valid in 27 European countries. Therefore, there is no need to worry about the quality standards of the MBBS degree provided in Ukraine.
  • The MBBS courses in Ukrainian universities are globally recognized by WHO, MCI, UNESCO, EUROPEAN COUNCIL and others.
  • Ukraine is an European country that has a European standard of living, but tuition fees and expenses are very low compared to any other European country.
  • The MBBS courses in Ukraine are taught in English, so there should be no issues in getting the degree for students who are only familiar with English. A big segment of population is proficient in English, thus, there should be no problem in communicating with local residents.
  • The climate in Ukraine is moderate, and  most international students will not have any difficulties related to acclimatization.
  • Passing neither IELTS nor TOEFL is required.
  • There is a big number of qualified teachers who have decades of experience both lecturing and conducting practical classes.
  • There are no entrance exams for Indian students like NEET of FMGE, so they should not worry about lack of vacant seats.
  • Ukraine is a part of the Bologna Process, hence education standards and quality are on a par with world ones.
  • After obtaining MBBS degree in Ukraine, students can practice medicine in any country after applying and passing licensing exams like USMLE for the USA, PLAM for the UK, MCI for India and others.
  • The courses are at the holistic development. It means that during study period students have an opportunity to gain knowledge on desired disciplines, as well as practise acquired skills.
