Student Life in Krakow

Kraków is the second-largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. Situated on the Vistula River, the city dates back to the seventh century. The beautiful city of Krakow, the former capital of Poland, is a dreamland for those with a fascination for architecture and is a great destination for history buffs. Simply strolling the quaint streets of its Old Town will immerse you in its past and get you acquainted with buildings made under the Baroque, Gothic, and Renaissance periods of the country. You can also visit the harrowing remnants of the ghetto, Schindler’s Enamel Factory, and the ruins of former concentration camps to learn about city life back in World War II and see how far the city has come and how it evolved into the lively hub for art and education that it is today.

Cracow University of Technology offers accommodation in its students’ residence hall located at Skarzyńskiego Street, in DS-4 Balon (twin rooms, shared bathrooms and shared kitchen).

Also students have the opportunity to develop passion for sports becoming members of the CUT Academic Sports Association and using the CUT Sports and Recreation Centre. Social and sports facilities belong to the most modern and sophisticated of all Cracow universities and technical universities in Poland. The university offers its students over 2,5 thousand places in 5 dormitories.

The strategic goal of the university is to perform the role of an innovative and entrepreneurial educational institution where education is on a par with research and transfer of technologies to the economy.

At present our researchers are working on a number of projects which have good chance of being implemented. Some of them are listed below:

  • The car of the future, an ultralight electric vehicle called ‘Buzz’. Its batteries can be charged using a standard household socket. The vehicle has been qualified for protection under Registered Community Design which means that its appearance will be protected across the European Union.
  • A method of obtaining nanomaterials using vegetable oil extracts and nanometal suspensions.
  • Method of obtaining hydroxyapatite calcium phosphate(HA) containing silver particles which can be applied in surgery to reconstruct bone defects.
  • Technology of computer modeling of a custom skull prosthesis.
  • Susceptible polymer joint is a construction element which allows load bearing inbuilt objects where joints are susceptible to great deformities.
