About Academy

 

Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education-Ukrainian higher education institution of the 4th level of accreditation. Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education was founded on November 11, 1923, and was called” The Ukrainian State Institute of Advanced Medical.”

In 1931, the Institute organized the department and graduate internships.

In 1991, the Institute was subordinated to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and renamed the Kharkiv Institute of Postgraduate Medical.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 15, 1999, №379 Institute was renamed the Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

History

 

The Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education was established on 11 November 1923 and was called the “Ukrainian State Institute for Advanced Training of Physicians”. In 1931 the department of postgraduate education and internship was established at the institute. In 1991 the Institute was subordinated to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and it was renamed “Kharkiv Institute for Doctors’ Improvement”.

Under the resolution of The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 15 March 1999 № 379, it was renamed to “Kharkiv Medical Academy of Post-graduate Education”.

International Cooperation

 

At the moment academy has made an international contract with next organizations: Sana’a University (Republic of Yemen), Baltic International Academy (Latvia), Akaki Tsereteli State University (Kutaisi, Georgia), Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, State Medical University (Tbilisi, Georgia), Higher Medical School (Sosnowiec, Poland), Tashkent Institute for Doctors’ Improvement (Uzbekistan), Azerbaijan State Institute for Doctors’ Improvement (Azerbaijan, Baku), Centre of International programs under Ministry of Education of Republic of Tajikistan, State-financed educational institution of higher professional education “Kursk State Medical University” (Russia, Kursk).

“The Centre of Innovative Technologies of Education” was created at KhMAPE for the development and adoption of the pedagogical process of new educational technologies. In this center, lectures with the use of modern equipment, and international videoconferences with the participation of doctors from the USA, Canada, Poland, and others are held. Telecommunication facilities of the center allow taking part in teleconsultations, to get the experience needed for the development of tele-educational technologies. Research work is a part of the work of the academy. It is conducted according to the subject plan approved by the academic council.

Accommodation

 

Accommodation for foreign students is provided by student hostels rated at 2,422 lodgers. In order to live at a hostel, the students must conclude a proper contract. This accommodation is available for the whole period of training. Hostel fees depend upon the size and comfort of the dwelling space. 

The University Scientific-Practical Medical Centre provides medical care to students. The students regularly undergo prophylactic medical and photofluorographic examinations.

The students have meals at 2 canteens for 160 clients and 6 refreshment bars for 80 clients.

The students are provided with facilities for going in for sports. The University has 3 gymnasia (for games, gymnastics, and heavy athletics).
