ABOUT THE CITY
Today, the Nizhniy Novgorod State Agricultural Academy is the largest agricultural educational institution in the Volga Federal District. Currently, the academy employs a highly qualified faculty: the total number of teachers is 357 people, including assistant professors, PhDs – 183 people, 4 Honored scientists of the Russian Federation, 2 Honored Workers of Higher Education of the Russian Federation, 49 Honorary Employees of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation and 9 Distinguished Professionals of Russia. Many of them are organizers and heads of scientific schools, directly ensuring the introduction of scientific developments in production.
During the 100 years of its existence, the Academy has trained more than 50 000 graduates in the agricultural profile.
Currently, 5 500 students are enrolled in 8 faculties, including 2 500 full-time students and 3 000 part-time students. Preparations are underway in 12 bachelor’s areas

After graduation, graduates are given a diploma in the state model.
Educational buildings and student dormitories are located compactly and are located on the campus of the Nizhniy Novgorod State Agricultural Academy.
Practical classes are held in the academy’s training farm, branches of departments, racetrack, dairy plants, and meat processing plants. Students are trained at leading factories in Russia and Europe.
Student science circles operate on the departments. Academy students take an active part in the Olympiads, conferences of the All-Russian and international level, as a result of which they are awarded diplomas of 1st and 2nd degree. Students of the engineering faculty of the NSCHA in 2012 became the winners of the All-Russian Student Olympiad in the specialty “Mechanization of Agriculture.”
Students participate in sports competitions, where they win and take prizes, representing their academy with dignity. In 2009, 2010, and 2011, the academy was awarded the “Governor’s Cup” for 1 place in the intercollegiate student all-around.
Students are given the opportunity to receive a second higher education. For several years, the best graduates of faculties have been retrained under the regional program “Training of the management reserve for organizations of the Nizhny Novgorod region” with the receipt of a diploma of the state model.
Those interested in scientific activities can continue their studies in graduate school, acting in 21 scientific specialties.
Today, Nizhny Novgorod State Academy has 8 faculties, each of which has its own history, good traditions, scientific schools:
The Faculty of Agronomics is the oldest faculty of the university, which has been leading its history since 1917.
The Faculty of Animal Engineering, which has been actively developing since 1930
The Faculty of Engineering, which became independent in 1950.
Faculty of Economics, formed in 1960
Faculty of Soil Science, Agrochemistry, and Agroecology, established in 1964.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which has been in place since 1975
Forestry Faculty, which has been leading training since 1994
The Faculty of Processing Technology is the youngest, allocated in the structure of the university in 2012.
All international students are free to use a university-managed accommodation. The building of student halls is situated within 3 km from the main building of the university. It is a 5-story building, wherein each story has 2 shared laundry rooms and 1 study room. Nizhniy Novgorod State Agricultural Academy has 4 comfortable hostels for students, rooms are for 2-3 persons, they are really well furnished and always clean. Dormitories have all the necessary facilities which students normally need.

Nizhny Novgorod, colloquially shortened to Nizhny, is a city in Russia and the administrative center of Volga Federal District and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. From 1932 to 1990, it was known as Gorky after the writer Maxim Gorky, who was born there.
The city is an important economic, transportation, scientific, educational, and cultural center in Russia and the vast Volga-Vyatka economic region is the main center of river tourism in Russia. In the historic part of the city, there are many universities, theaters, museums, and churches. Nizhny Novgorod is located about 400 km (250 mi) east of Moscow, where the Oka River empties into the Volga. Population: 1,250,619 (2010 Census); 1,311,252 (2002 Census); 1,438,133 (1989 Census).
