Russian and Ukrainian universities are recognized throughout the world for a multitude of innovative teaching, clinical training and research programs. Our award-winning faculty are constantly striving for greater innovation and excellence in the classroom, laboratory, and clinic. Because the class size is relatively small, faculty members get to know each student. It is one thing to say the University has great minds and programs and another to prove it.

In both Ukrainian and Russian universities, the academic year is divided into two semesters.

  • The first semester is from the first to the middle of September and lasts until the last week of January.
  • The second semester begins in the first week of February and lasts until mid-July.

The studies at the University start on the 1st of September, at the pre-medical department – on the 1st of October every year.

Weekdays are 5 working days, Saturday and Sunday are days off. Classes are held from 8.00 to 16.00. The working week of the student comprises 54 hours, including 36 hours of lectures and 18 hours of independent work.

The study period consists of study semesters, final examinations and vacations. The academic year lasts 12 months and consists of study days, days of final control, exam sessions, weekends, holidays and vacations. Students are required to attend all types of classes (except consultations).

Summer vacations last from July to August. During the vacations, students can easily travel to the CIS and all European countries by bus, train, and air. Special programs and trips are also offered, letting students learn firsthand about the transition process in Russia or Ukraine, CIS countries, and other European countries. 

Currently, studying MBBS both in Ukraine and Russia is getting more and more popular among international students, due to a number of the best medical Universities in World. Tuition fee for MBBS in Russia and Ukraine is minimal and affordable in comparison with other countries (in Russia it is subsidized by the government). Russian and Ukrainian medical universities are functioning under the guidance of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Russian Federation and are incorporated in the World Health Organization’s Directory of “World Medical Schools”. They are ranked among the top ten medical universities of Russia and Ukraine with a great number of foreign students.

Most popular medical courses among international students in Russia and Ukraine are:

  • Medicine: it is a six-year course, Doctor of Medicine (MD or MBBS) is the awarded degree;
  • Dental: it is five-year course, Bachelor of Dentistry (BDent) is the awarded degree;
  • Pediatrics: it is a six-year course, Doctor of Medicine is the awarded degree;
  • Nursing: it is a four-year course, Bachelor of Nursing (BN) is the awarded degree;
  • Dental orthopedics: it is a two-year course, Bachelor of Dental Orthopedics is the awarded degree;
  • Postgraduate studies: duration of study is 2-3 years.



The medical course at Russian and Ukrainian state universities is six years in duration and leads to an MD (Doctor of Medicine) or MBBS degree. Under the graduate program, students study a variety of subjects from fundamental subject disciplines to specialized medical subjects over the course of six years of study. The practice of medicine remains one of the most requested of all professions and we believe that the Russian and Ukrainian Universities are the perfect place to acquire medical knowledge and gain the degree. Medical practice still remains one of the most in-demand professions, and we believe our universities are the perfect place to gain medical knowledge and a degree. Foreign students have their classes in group of 8-12 students. Second-year students take clinical classes where they can gain experience in nursing patients. Students have clinical courses from their third year of study. Students have the opportunity to study any topic of interest and to acquire knowledge in the departments. It is important to have all six years of the program, and all of them must be successfully completed before students are eligible to graduate.

The medium of instruction in the Medical faculty is English and Russian languages. The Ministry of education and Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine and Russia approved the curriculum of the medical faculties of our governmental Russian and Ukrainian Universities.

For the first 3 years of training students are mainly focused on theoretical subjects at the departments of biology, medical physics, chemistry, biochemistry, human anatomy, histology, physiology, pathology, microbiology, Latin and foreign languages, social sciences. During the last 3.5 years students are offered extensive practical training in various fields of internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, public health and prevention. One of the most distinctive features of our medical education is the students’ full hands-on work with patients in all clinical classes. This gives students a unique opportunity to become highly skilled in modern methods of diagnosis and treatment.

The successful students who will complete study of five years, then on graduation work for another year under probation in order to gain general registration. There is a wide range of specialization available in the public and private sectors, involving research, academic medicine, public health, clinical medicine and other areas. Specialties include Cardiology, Oncology, Pediatrics, Psychological Medicine, Surgery, Pathology, Public Health, General Practice and many others. Most doctors complete postgraduate training in their chosen specialty.

The dental education program is for five academic years. Students take basic medical and biological subjects as well as various clinical disciplines required for dentists. In case of successful passing the examinations, the graduates are given the Diploma of a Doctor – Dentist. The curriculum provides for further postgraduate education. The awarded degree is BDS.

Students in the junior years study theoretical disciplines, and from the fourth year they begin to study clinical disciplines. The Departments of anatomy, histology, normal physiology, biochemistry, and general chemistry, with their outstanding traditions in the organization of the educational process and highly qualified teachers, could do profiles for teaching their disciplines, considering the specifics of the department. The Departments have well-equipped additional rooms for students to master the introductory course, the necessary number of visual aids and special equipment have been purchased. Both teachers and students are involved in the edition of manuals at the university. The laboratory of metal-ceramics and the laboratory of high-frequency melting and casting of dental prostheses are specially equipped. Students study the main current problems of dentistry at the special dental offices: caries, paradontosis, and diseases of the mucous membrane in the mouth cavity. The main objective of the Department of Dentistry is to improve the higher dental education as well as to increase the quality of training of dentists. The Department has developed and applies a set of methodological ways to optimize the educational process, focused on strengthening the students’ cognitive activity, developing the habit of educational and research work, providing creative methods of approach to professional activity. The Department of Dentistry assists students in acquiring a good knowledge of dentistry. It grows and matures, learning from all the best of the university’s experience.

The course in Pharmacy provided by Universities is intended for students interested in specializing in and receiving training in the effective use of medications. Pharmaceutical studies incorporate the study of chemical sciences in combination with the health sciences. It focuses on the safe use and application of pharmaceutical drugs.  Practical pharmacy covers contemporary health care roles and clinical services, together with medication review for more traditional services including dispensing and compounding.

Physiological sciences, human nutrition, pharmacology, professional practice, rural pharmacy, pharmaceutics, chemistry, microbiology, organic and medical agents, organic chemistry, therapeutics and scientific statistics are studied during the Pharmacy course in the University. Students will improve their skills and knowledge in health promotion and develop health information management and communication skills during the course. The course is recognized globally and is held in respect in the industry.

The Ministry for Education and Science for Ukraine inaugurated the Faculty of Pharmacy.

The objective of the Pharmacy course, currently taught at Ukrainian and Russian universities, is to provide students all the skills necessary for the current trends. Understanding and appreciating the importance of continuing health care for the population is essential for students. The elective practices are offered to help students in the development of their particular interests, and this can enhance their future career opportunities. Students acquire the fundamentals of biomedical knowledge and have detailed study in the different subjects of the specialty and also some clinical subjects. After successful completion of the course, graduates are awarded a diploma of pharmacist. Students are trained to work in institutions of pharmacy, as well as for research work.  




The objective of the Bachelor Degree in Nursing program at both Ukrainian and Russian universities is to train registered nurses to perform occupational duties working in close contact with the patient. Nurses must have both good interpersonal skills and be able to be involved in health care development. The nursing course focuses on an in-depth study of nursing theory as well as the practice of nursing and the development of clinical skills.

The Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing program at Ukrainian and Russian universities is two academic years and 10 months in English. It corresponds to the Bologna Process and trains future nursing specialists for professional practice in the broadly determined nursing discipline.

Undergraduate nursing program students gain the theoretical, practical, and personal knowledge and skills essential for meeting and taking care of people in need of nursing care. To gain practical skills, students participate in simulation modules that replicate real-world scenarios.

A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Ukrainian and Russian universities provides students with all the basic nursing skills. The curriculum includes both theoretical and practical nursing aspects, covering the following areas: health promotion, preventive health care, health education, and – most importantly – a broad scope of treatment, rehabilitation, and nursing procedures.

The Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing program utilizes various teaching methods. Courses are taught in equipped laboratories where students develop their skills in nursing procedures under simulated conditions. Later, these skills are carried over into real-world situations during internships in various health care settings in fields including primary health care, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, intensive care, rehabilitation, neurology, geriatrics, or palliative care. Students participate in work programs with health care professional organizations to complement classroom learning.

The study of nursing means training in the health care profession to care for people in order to assist them in gaining or regaining health and quality of life. Nurses are responsible for ensuring proper implementation of medical orders and providing patients with the care they need. Those who obtained the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing are dealing with everything from training and supervising new nurses and students to acting as a team leader and delegating work. The nurses also maintain daily contact with patients and their relatives.

Nurses have the responsibility to maintain high-quality nursing care for all by adhering to their code of ethics, standards, and competencies. Nursing involves a combination of concentrations covering nursing theory, social sciences, physical sciences, and technology. To be a nurse, it is necessary to consider the psychological, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of patients. Nurses require great communication skills as they discuss sensitive issues with patients and their relatives on a daily basis.
