About University

Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, established in 1997, is a national higher education and science institution that proposes advanced programs and secures global start-up points for students – new entrepreneurs and researchers. It is a modern state higher education institution, which is guaranteeing the possibility for students to acquire qualitative higher education and professional skills, and carry out significant research. 

The university is home to over 1,000 talented students studying at 14 Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral study programs available at the University of Applied Sciences. Students have opportunities to boost their knowledge by using University facilities and informational resources and participating in international exchange programs with foreign universities and educational organizations.

In 2013, VUAS received the status of scientific institution (registered in the Registry of Scientific Institutions), confirming it has fulfilled the national criteria for a scientific institution: half of all members of academic staff are holders of a Doctor of Science degree, the higher education institution publishes scientific articles and has scientific infrastructure at its disposal, and so on.

The Ventspils University of Applied Science provides the institutions and companies of the Kurzeme region and Ventspils City Council with qualified employees, as well as offers lifelong learning opportunities for everyone.

Students of Ventspils University of Applied Sciences can get to know both foreign lecturers and students from different countries and can travel abroad on experience exchanges or expand their horizons by participating in various projects.

International experience can be gained via the Erasmus+ program. This program provides students with the opportunity to study at a cooperating university in Erasmus+ program countries. Erasmus+ offers the opportunity to gain international work experience through training abroad.

In addition to acquiring new academic knowledge, international studies are a great way to practice foreign languages, get acquainted with new cultures, make new friends, and establish contacts. For Erasmus+ students, it is an opportunity to test themselves in a new environment and to become more independent.
